Forged Products

Forging is an ancient craft on the Yaroslavl land. In the old days, not a single village existed without farriers. Their products have always been in high demand. But today the fashion for forging is returning. Elements decorate interiors, gates, fences. They even try to make the plugs for hollow metal posts forged: they are not afraid of rain, snow and frost.

The Yarkovka company has been successfully operating in the market for more than a decade. Customers love her products. The gates and fences made here are not only of excellent quality, but also have an unusual design. They will take their rightful place in the fence of a private house or garden.

It is noteworthy that you can compose a composition for the interior of a living room or dining room yourself. To do this, it is enough to select the elements to your liking, and an experienced blacksmith will collect them into one whole. Overall structures Yarkovka delivers to the customer independently: it is convenient for tourists from other regions.

Figurine of a bear

The construction of the city began in the place where Yaroslav the Wise killed the bear. From that moment on, the ax of Prince Yaroslav and the formidable, but defeated beast became the symbols of the settlement. All tourists strive to bring an image of a clubfoot. Figures of this mammal are sold in every souvenir shop.

There are figurines made of ceramics, wood, metal, border and fabric. And the sizes are also different. A small teddy bear can be put on a bedside table near the bed, and a huge one will take its rightful place in the hallway or living room.

And the poses of the clubfoot are also diverse: now it stands on its hind legs, holding an ax in its paws, then it smiles sweetly, then it catches fish. The latter story became popular after Tsereteli's gift. The sculptor depicted a bear fishing in the city's 1000th anniversary park. Each tourist will find exactly the bear he needs.

Bells and bells

At first glance, nothing interesting. Bells or bells were hung on the arch of the horses, and a melodic ringing was heard while riding. Quite relevant when moving in the dark, during a blizzard or heavy rain. The oncoming triplets heard the signal, which helped to avoid a collision.

Now this tradition exists only on holiday skating. But! Not everything is so simple. There are whole shops in the city offering bells and bells. And souvenirs are in demand.

Of course, the coachmen's accessories are produced in our time. But traditions are fully observed.

Bells are presented with:

  • ear holes
  • embossed (forged) letters
  • sloping or sloping roof
  • bunk roofs
  • domed roofs

And depending on the design, they have a different sound. The bells were originally made in the form of an apple or a ball flattened at the poles. And for the coachmen, whole sets were forged: each bell plays its own note. Such a system was more expensive: it was worn on an arc by rich coachmen.

Each province differed in the type of accessories produced. Yaroslavl craftsmen have restored the traditions of their ancestors: modern products cannot be confused with anything. You can buy souvenirs in the shop at the Museum Music and Time, located on Volzhskaya embankment, house 33A.

Yarpivo

The enterprise has been operating without interruption since 1974. Not only beer in various packaging was produced, but also soft drinks. In the difficult post-perestroika times, the plant became a joint stock company and entered the international company BBH. During this period, the technical re-equipment of the enterprise took place.

Today Yarpivo is famous in every corner of Russia. The popularity of the products is explained by the fact that the team skillfully combines modern technologies with the recipes of the former Yaroslavl brewers. This was appreciated by the jury of international competitions: the presented samples received the Big Gold and Silver medals in Belgium.

The tourist is offered a wide assortment. A bear holding a mug of a foamy drink in its paws is depicted on cans and bottles, the contents of which have a different taste and strength. Souvenirs in colorful packaging stand separately.

Yarpivo is sold in any store in the city. But the largest assortment is presented in JSC Tander:

  • on Mashinostroiteley Avenue, 116
  • on Aviatorov Avenue, 159
  • on Elena Kolesova street, house 13D
  • on Leningradsky prospect, 50A

A good selection is available in the Perekrestok chain of stores.

Poshekhonsky cheese

The recipe for an amazing product was developed by the cheese makers of the Poshekhonsky district of the Yaroslavl province. It is a hard rennet cheese with a dense texture with small eyes and a pungent and sour taste. The product quickly won buyers throughout the Russian Empire. Poshekhonya cheesemakers attributed the success of their product to unique natural conditions. The dairy herds grazed in the fragrant meadows.

Hay and silage were prepared for future use: there was always enough feed. That is why the cheese turned out to be so unusually tasty. In the 20s of the twentieth century, the recipe was finalized by Avdienko and Gerlach. This technology is used to prepare cheese today. Unfortunately, the original production has not been restored. But Poshekhonsky cheese is made at dairy factories in the Yaroslavl region.

Poshekhonsky cheese is sold in all grocery stores in the city. But it is more interesting to visit the Cheese Shop on Svoboda Street, house 11/37.

Embroidery

White line embroidery is an old craft of the Yaroslavl province. This is how peasant women embroidered on a rough canvas. The fabric itself served as a canvas; a colored thread was woven into the ornament.

The motives were traditional for the Russian north: plants and unseen birds were fancifully combined on the canvas. Sometimes the birds looked in one direction, sometimes in different directions. Often, embroiderers depicted a two-headed eagle.

The peasant woman used different techniques:

  • white stitching
  • color intertwine
  • smooth surface
  • vestibule
  • cutouts

Often the main fabric was supplemented with elegant silk, patterned ribbons or lace. Such an outfit was complemented by colored chintz and turned a simple peasant woman into a fairy-tale princess.

Such a variety of techniques and unusual color combinations did not find application in mass production. But folk craftswomen bit by bit collect the embroidery technique and create real masterpieces on its basis.

You can buy traditional Yaroslavl embroidery from the craftswomen. You can actually find their coordinates on VKontakte. And if you want to buy something simpler, you should visit the embroidery factory store on 26 Leo Tolstoy Street.

Orthodox symbols

Recently, it has become popular to bring Orthodox symbols from trips. In order to purchase them, it is worth visiting the private workshop of Pavel Miskin Yaroslavl iconostasis. The production has been operating since 1995 in compliance with all the rules. The founder intended to support the city's traditional woodcarving.

Today the workshop produces:

  • home iconostases
  • icons
  • shelves for icons (including carved wooden ones)
  • church oils
  • sets
  • candles

The sales center is located on Gagarina street, house 62, building 5.
